FOOD FESTIVALS

Perhaps the highlight of the Summer is the Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival which will be held in the picturesque harbour town of Aberaeron on Sunday 9th July 2017. Come and watch some of Wales' finest chefs demonstrate their culinary skills and sample some of the best seafood you will taste anywhere, much of it caught locally. As well as the great food on offer wander along the numerous stalls on the quayside and enjoy the traditional music and dance that takes place through the day.

A few weeks later the ever popular Lampeter Food Festival takes place in the grounds of the University, on Saturday 29th July 2017. With many stalls and entertainment on offer , definitely worth a visit. Last year there were over 70 stallholders present offering a huge array of foods, drinks, arts and crafts and community groups.

The third of the great local festivals takes place in Cardigan. On the banks of the River Teifi the Cardigan River and Food Festival is yet another must visit event. Taking place on Saturday 12th August 2017 this is another must visit event. So much will be on offer for all the family - cooking demonstations, river events, live music, dancing and activities for the children.

WALKING FESTIVALS

Penllwyn Holiday Cottages are just a five minute walk to the Ceredigion Coaast Path. The Coastal gems of Cwmtydu, New Quay and LLangranog are all within walking distance. Slightly further afield come and stay and take part in one of the local Walking Festivals and events.

AGRICULTURAL SHOWS AND EVENTS

Being a very important agricultural area why not come and take in one of the shows that promote the rural life we enjoy. Ceredigion is home to some of Wales' finest food products.

Barley Saturday in Cardigan on 29th April 2017 includes a parade of horses through the town. If you love horses a date not to be missed is 13th August 2017 with the Festival of Ponies and Cobs in Aberaeron now back as an annual event.

Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show on the 10th of June 2017 celebrates everything to do with rural life. Come and see a wide range of farm animals and birds on show. Numerous other attractions for all the family to enjoy.

Cardigan County Show takes place on 26th July 2017 with numerous classes of animals to watch.

Lampeter Agricultural Show on Friday 11th August 2017 is another great day out for all the family.

Take in one of these great events and understand something of the great farming tradition of Ceredigion and Cardigan Bay.

SPORTING EVENTS

If you enjoy cycling why not give one of these events a go. Howies Dyfi Enduro mountain bike event in Machynlleth on 29-30th April 2017 guaranteed to test your fitness. Starting in Machynlleth town centre it takes in trails in the Dyfi forest Or maybe more for the whole of the family the Aberystwyth Cycle Festival from 22-30th May 2017 with a series of events and activities for all ages and abilities.

If sailings your thing or you just enjoy the site of racing yachts on the sea, then you could take in the New Quay Sailing Regatta 14th-16th August 2017 or nearby Aberaeron Sailing Regatta from 31/07-02nd August.

Something totlly different is the Aberaeron Tug of War across the Harbour in August 2017 from 7pm. Watch the local teams battle it out and the losers end up in the Harbour, whilst you enjoy a cool drink on the quayside!!

For rugby lovers there's the Aberaeron Rugby 7's Festival from 25th-27th of August 2017. There may no longer in this professional age be the numerous rugby stars in attendance, but still a great family occasion!

For Horse lovers again something a little different. Spend an afternoon at the Trotting Racing at one of the venues around the county. For the Tregaron event free transport is even being arranged for you. The first event is in Tregaron on 14th May 2017.
